The Cure 2 new jpeg
The Cure is a one man play set at The Height of Ireland’s boomtime, “The Celtic Tiger”. Our narrator has just spent the last three days drinking away his annual Christmas bonus while his wife and Kid’s are at home. Of course he believe’s he needs “A Cure”, just one or two more pint’s in order to keep his party going and the pangs of Guilt away… So he believes. The  play is very much steeped in the History and Topography of Cork City. The Cure is taken from  Conal Creedon’s “Second City Trilogy”. The two other plays (“After Luke and When I Was God”) were performed as part of 1st Irish 2009” to huge acclaim at The Irish Repertory Theatre. For which it was nominated for “Best Actor” award for Michael Mellamphy, “Best Set Design”, for Lex Liang and Won The “Best Director” award for Tim Ruddy’s excellent work. Tim and Michael had previously worked on “When I was God”, for the inaugural 1st Irish Theatre Festival back in 2008. So it is wholly appropriate that “The Cure” is getting it’s long awaited U.S. premiere in the festival where it all began with the people who were first involved.
